Director: Neal Mulani
On his 25th birthday, Cary brings his friends to the desert and requests one gift: for them to list everything they hate about him. A reckoning ensues.
Director's Statement:
Whether we admit it or not, most of us have wanted to know what our closest friends say about us when we’re not around. That single impulse can give way to paranoia, confusion, envy - a whole host of emotions. But is that an inherently narcissistic desire to have? Are we just looking for honesty? Are we projecting and trying to work through our own neuroses? When you compound that mental exercise with the gleeful short-sightedness of being in your early 20s, the results are saucy at best and absolutely catastrophic at worst.
TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW is my vision of a birthday party from hell; a bright, absurd, queer comedy about friendship and self-perception that’s teeming with shades of narcissism and anxiety; a portrait of someone giving into their own self-serving impulses without a shred of remorse.
